This price incudes: tuition, e-learning code, and rental gear. It does not include your personal gear (mask, fins, snorkel, gloves, hood and SMB). We offer our students the best deal on gear. The PADI Open Water Course is a great entry level course to get you started on your scuba diving journey. The PADI programs are performance programs; you continue on to each level as you demonstrate the mastery of each course skills. This allows you to pace yourself at a rate that is comfortable for you. Typically, all it takes is four days of training to complete this course. Midland Dive Association offers semi private and private classes.

General flow of the course:


  • 1st Day: Quick Quiz and gear assembly
  • 2nd Day: Pool Dives, COM Aquatics 
  • 4th Day: Open Water Dives Please note: we usually go to The Scuba Ranch, Terrel TX
  • 5th Day: Open Water Dives Please note: we usually go to The Scuba Ranch, Terrel TX

Student Scuba Divers Using PADI eLearning

Step 1 - eLearning


What You'll Do:

Develop your scuba diving knowledge using PADI's eLearning platform.

When & Where:

On your computer or mobile device when it's convenient for you and at your own pace.

It takes 8 to 15 hours in total. Complete before your scheduled start date for Step 2.

Step 1 Includes:

  • Open Water Diver eLearning course.

  • All knowledge development.

  • Introduction to equipment and skills.

  • Lifetime access to the Open Water Diver eLearning materials.

Student Scuba Divers at Pool Training

Step 2 - Pool Training


What You'll Do:

Develop your core scuba diving skills and equipment handling techniques.

When & Where:

Friday 6:00PM-8:00PM

at Midland Dive Association. Orientation only, pool sessions are:
Saturday 1:30PM-6:00PM

at COM Aquatics.

Step 2 Includes:

  • Scuba equipment orientation.

  • Scuba skills development and practice.

  • PADI Diver Logbook.

Student Scuba Divers at Open Water Dives

Step 3 - Open Water Dives


What You'll Do:

Apply your diving knowledge and skills while making four open water dives.

When & Where:

Saturday and Sunday 12:00PM-5:00PM

at The Scuba Ranch in Terrell, Texas.

Exact class end times may vary due to class size, water conditions, and weather.

Step 3 Includes:

  • Open water dives with your instructor.

  • Gear rental 

  • Certification processing and certification card upon successful course completion.

Not Included in Step 3:

  • Scuba Ranch admission ($20/day)

  • Scuba Ranch air tank fills ($10/each)

  • Scuba Ranch wet suit rental ($40)


PADI Open Water Course Requirements

  • Minimum age: 10
  • Signed Medical Certification Statement.

What can you expect to Learn and Gain?

  • Learn how to use entry level scuba diving equipment.
  • Gain entry level diving skills and knowledge for ocean diving.
  • Learn about the ocean and marine life.
  • Gain the ability to participate in more advanced scuba diving courses.


What Diving Equipment will I Need:

Midland Dive provides all equipment needed for your Open Water Diving course, except mask, fins, snorkel and booties. 

Because classes are a scheduled event they are non-refundable.
